A specially designed yoga series for the progression of your pregnancy journey, preparing you for labour, and beyond.
-
The first class is a breakdown of essentials for your ongoing practice. We will workshop the pelvic floor for pregnancy, pregnancy posture, and breathwork (pranayama) and moving mindfully (asana postures). You will walk away with a practical & philosophical understanding of the importance of your changing body and gain awareness of practices that will impact a positive journey ahead.
-
Through yoga postures, we will create space in the body & mind through the breath. As we move through each pose you will open hips, and shoulders, and encourage an open heart and ignite life force (prana) to flow through more effortlessly.
-
Through stabilising the pelvis and strengthening the legs we can move more dynamically, and support our changing body during pregnancy. Yoga is about developing strength in the tissues surrounding the joints, thus reaping benefits of an empowered pregnancy. We will focus on stabilising the Sacro Iliac joint & Pelvic Girdle, to prevent common dysfunctions that can cause symptoms such as hip and butt aches or dull aches in the thighs as hormones change.
-
Tap into a creative, intuitive flow with this practice, we will build upon the more fluid elements of movement. With this practice you will enliven an inner connection to your body that allows you to feel more comfortable and find an inner flow. We will explore our voice with sounds that are useful in birth.
-
Access your power that is already within. This stronger practice we will develop a steady flow that will generate heat yet have a cool mind & nervous system to handle the intensity. Tap into a strong feminine power, build stamina that will ground you during the birth process.
-
Banish fear, a stronger practice designed to challenge ourselves. Feeling the power and banish fears that lurk in the mind, as we bring awareness to the thoughts we can allow them to process through the body and allow it to dissolve and not take power over our nervous system and future state. We will learn to decipher the defilements of our mind, and invite curiosity.
-
Trust yourself as you find your balance, a calm, focused and steady mind. We will explore postures that enhance opening and expansion, preparing for the transformation of motherhood with an inner stillness. The practice will go further in providing optimal birth positions, optimal fetal positions, for labour. We will practice a mindset of embracing uncertainty through what we can control and let go of what we cannot.
-
A restorative practice that is designed to embed a positive and supportive path moving forwards with a guided yoga nidra that will aid in deep relaxation. A restorative yoga practice that allows the body to deeply heal and restore its vital energies, guided visualisation and affirmations are used to deepen the positive pathway in the mind for a positive birth.

How yoga can benefit your pregnancy and birth?
Revitalise your Energy
The calming practices are beneficial for the nervous and hormonal system during your pregnancy, whilst the more energising and strengthening practices are great for the cardiovascular system.
Ease Discomfort
The strength and flexibility focus of the postures can help ease back, neck, hip pain, and digestion. Learn how to modify along the way with each trimester as it brings about changes for your body.
Reduce Stress
Awareness and control of the breath is an effective tool during pregnancy to help calm and reduce anxiety. A wonderful technique to help with pain management, and focus to relax during labour.
Sacred Rite of Passage
Enhance the enjoyment of the pregnancy journey as a special and sacred time and encourage to honour yourself and baby within, whilst cultivating the benefits of self-love and nurturing.
Bond with Your Baby
Connect to your baby and embrace your pregnancy, our babies can hear sounds from as early as 18 weeks gestation. A mothers nervous system translates to the baby, the baby will receive this benefit of connection and ease too.
Improve Stamina
By staying active during pregnancy you are building stamina and endurance to prepare for birth (particularly for an Active Birth approach). The same applies to running a marathon, you wouldn’t show up at the start line without any preparation.
Prepare your body
Prepare your body for the delivery of baby, through yoga, vocalisation, visualisation and breathing exercises. Strengthen your body to help aid in recovery post-birth with the pelvic floor and pelvic core exercises.
Breathwork Techniques
Conscious relaxation will help you to stay present, relax and revive and refocus your energies. Breaking the ‘fear-tension cycle’, even when things get challenging and demanding, it is helpful during the labouring process.
Empower Yourself
Yoga practices help you develop the mental and physical strength needed in preparation for the challenges ahead and to face them with courage and equanimity. Allowing you to make the right choices for yourself and baby.
Move mindfully and open your awareness
to empower your pregnancy and birth.

Prenatal yoga is for those who have a low-risk pregnancy and have gotten the green light from a doctor or midwife to practice.
It is not necessary to have previous yoga experience to attend our Prenatal Yoga classes.
The classes cater for all levels of yoga students from beginners to advanced. The class will offer different levels of yoga poses in relevant situations.
The classes are structured for the pregnant woman and therefore the poses are quite specific, gentle yet strong. The benefits for you and your baby are tremendous when practiced in a mindful and safe manner.
-
During the yoga for pregnancy class, you will practice classical yoga postures and tune into the consciousness of your growing baby. In the prenatal yoga class the unborn child is included in the postures and breathing exercises. The practices of meditation, breathing exercises, gentle yoga postures (asanas) and the development of right thinking are all designed to increase and balance the positive benefits of hormones present during pregnancy and labour, making it safer for both you and your baby.
-
Whilst it is possible and beneficial to practice a regular yoga class guided by a teacher who is aware of the pregnancy, there are greater benefits to attending a prenatal yoga class that is specifically designed for your growing baby and changes to your body. Each class allows you to feel safe and nurtured, challenged and at ease for the unique journey into pregnancy. Too often a standard practice will not honour the stages and modification for each trimester and sacredness of the journey towards birth and motherhood.
-
Anytime from the Second Trimester onwards is best.
It is recommended that women avoid vigorous activity during the 11th to 14th week of the pregnancy and always check with their healthcare provider before embarking on a new exercise regime.
If you have not done yoga before becoming pregnant you are welcome to attend a prenatal yoga class.
-
During pregnancy the hormone Relaxin is released to allow the pelvis to open wider for childbirth. Therefore, it is important to focus on strengthening and avoid over stretching. You will be guided safely by your experienced yoga teacher and given options to vary the poses according to your specific pregnancy conditions.
-
During pregnancy, there is an added incentive to develop calmness and contentment – you are calm for two. The peace of heart experienced by the pregnant woman is also felt by her baby. It is not only essential to develop strength and stamina for labour, but beyond. It is also important to be happy and healthy while 'with child'. The deeper sense of relaxation and release of stress achieved through specific breathing techniques benefit both mother and unborn child. A regular practice assists women in achieving a more positive experience of pregnancy and birth.

If you are unable to attend for any reason, you can send us an email to request access to a pre-recorded class to practice in your own home.
